when i open the same file with E-Drawings everything does well, sadly i am not allowed to upload my companys file but i can upload a specific code from the file e.g. whats supposed to be measurement 143 ( second from left )

from what i already found out when checking the dxf reference book

the value below 70 states the type of measurement

the value below 50 on snippet 1 : 90 on snippet 2 : 62.741504 indicates the angle

only thing i do not know is how to make QCAD omint the second one with the faulty measurement, or disregards it when using converter tools

Hi,

It seems to concern Aligned Dimensions.
What is older? What does the Command History tells you when loaded in the GUI?
What is the full dwg2dwg command line instruction?

Aligned means parallel in regards with measurement point to measurement point.
Not necessarily limited to in X or in Y.

I would expect Rotated, BaseLine or Ordinate dimensions here.
Horizontal or Vertical are Rotated dimensions at a specific angle.

Strangely enough: The measured values are the same ...

Without a sample drawing, it's just guesswork.
These must not be complete drawings.
You can also attach a proprietary drawing to a private message.
This will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
Before and after conversion would be nice.

CVH

Hi CVH,

thank you for your support.
the screenshot shows the same file, opend at the same moment, the instant i open it on QCAD i looks like this. the file has not been modified by be.

Opening it in Solidworks , wich is drag, also shows the file displaying well. Later @home i can check on Atom3d

i used the conversion tools to convert ~ 15k files for the PDF printing system, printing out drawings automatically when the part gets produced.
some files turned our like this, while the most are doing well. i will put down the command i used when i return to the second computer.

i added an other screenshot, when i open the dxf with Irfanview it looks diffrent and got the measures after scaling down.

Also tried Autodesk DWG TrueView 2026, there it looks fine too.

Additional info about the file I received by PM:
- Format: R11/R12 DXF Drawing (OpenDesign) (*.dxf)
- Aligned Dimensions
- These Dimension entities don't display the measured value, all labels are set to fixed strings.

A random Aligned Dimension example:
- Label = 189, measured value point to point at 96.04141924°= 76.01139683 (See Irfanview example above)
- Delta in Y = 75.589233
- Drawn at scale 1:2.5 => actual dY = 188.9730825 and rounded that is indeed 189

Why QCAD displays them different is perhaps because it evaluates the Dimension data in direct.
Rendering is not based on cached Dimension Blocks, see reply from Andrew here: Post 29344

You could attempt to fix these using the command line switch -recompute-dim with the original and !unchanged! files.
Normally we would set a Dimension scale, global or custom, but with fixed labels this is not required.

Also note that the font 'MONOTXT' is usually not installed.
DXF doesn't store font definitions.
It will be rendered in some installed font.

Irfanview uses a custom build plug-in to render CAD files. Kinda does what it does.

Regards,
CVH
