[solved] Printout Scaling

Post by adnan.kurt » Thu Dec 11, 2025 4:41 pm

I am using
QCad Professional Version:
3.32.4.0 (3.32.4)
Revision:
d3aa6db
Qt Version:
5.13.2
Architecture:
x86_64
Compiler:
MSVC++ 14.0 (2015)
on Windows11, Lenovo ThinkPad

When I print the drawing, with scales set to 1, or 1:1 and printer settings are also correctly done (and tested with other files created elsewhere), printed drawing is out of scale, it is almost 1:1.025.

Do you encounter such problems? Is it a bug or do I misuse any setting?

Regards,
adnan

Hi, and welcome to the QCAD forum.

Last used paper scale is stored in the drawing: 1:1 on A4 , origin (0,0), margins all 10mm
Your exterior border is already 210 x 297 (paper size) ... I would set that not Plottable.
Your interior border is just on the paper margin limits.
But that might still be printed.

The lower edge of LaserCutBlock is perfectly 235 long over here.
Give or take measurements errors.
Surely not 230 or so.

Printed with Menu File .. Print preview and then the print button in the Options toolbar?
With Menu File .. Print?
Or with another method?

Is there an option in your printer dialog to fit the page, use actual size.

Exported to PDF and then printed?
Same issue may exist as with the printer dialog.

We are talking of 2.5% ...
Have a look at menu Edit .. Application Preferences .. Printer Settings .. Calibration
Are both factors 1.0?
Or nearly if some minor adjustment was required.

Regards,
CVH

Thanks for your advise. I had checked all the parameters of QCad, to make sure that the print scaling is 1:1. Some how, windows printer driver had some more setting in the advanced section, that asks for print scaling with respect to paper. Seems that it was on -for pdf files. After turning that one off as a default value, I now have correctly scaled printouts. :)

Best,
adnan
