Post by andrew » Thu Nov 06, 2025 9:20 am

From a QCAD user:
When inserting a DXF from QCAD into Autodesk Fusion, text entities are missing.

Fusion does not import texts from DXF:

Solution with Text Outlines:
Explode texts into polylines
- Open your drawing in QCAD
- Select all text entities
- Modify > Explode
- Check the status bar of QCAD for "Selected entities:"
- If it still shows text, Modify > Explode again until it shows that the selection now consists of polylines

Note that if your texts used a TrueType font, they now consist of outlines. You could fill these with a solid fill in QCAD, but Fusion won't import those either.

Solution with Solid Fills:
If you need solid fills in Fusion, you can export to SVG in QCAD instead. This means that you will likely have to scale the inserted SVG in Fusion as SVG does not store a fixed resolution. The scale factor should be easy to determine based on a known distance in the drawing.
