I have run into an issue that I cannot solve. The rulers are missing on the edges of the drawing window. I replaced my old computer and installed Qcad on the new one, so a fresh install. I then started changing the setting to match my old system and noticed the rulers were missing from the edges of the drawing window. I verified the setting for “show ruler” was check, which it was. I believe it is related to this post from 2021:

If I check all the boxes under Graphics View>Grid the ruler shows again. I do not use the grid, so I do not want these checked. If someone could tell me how to enable the ruler without the grid I would appreciate it. Thank you for your help.

Re: Missing Ruler on Edge of Drawing Window
Hi,
The rulers are there, see arrows, but there is no textual information to display.
You can set up the Grid as auto as advised in the given link.
So that there is at least something where the information for rulers can be based on.
Then you can display the Grid or not with menu View .. Grid (GR).
Even when not visible, QCAD may still snap to the Grid.
Perhaps you want to disable the Grid points in the Auto Snap list, see App.Prefs. .. Snap .. Auto Snap
Snap Grid (SG) is still an option.
You can hide/disable this tool like any other under App.Prefs. .. General .. Tool settings
Look up the tool under 'Snap' and then 'Grid'.
> Not visible on any menu, toolbar or a matrix panel ; No shortcuts ; No commands
For the record: The content of the drawing file is mostly unrelated except the Grid preferences.
How your GUI is arranged and the other preferences are user defined and application wide.

[Solved]Re: Missing Ruler on Edge of Drawing Window
Thank you very much CVH. My enthusiasm to get rid of the grid led me to uncheck all the boxes under Graphics View: Grid when I should have just unchecked auto snap to grid setting and turned off the grid visibility. The ruler is back, and everything is working as expected. One of the reasons I like this software is the quick response when issues are encountered.
