Re: Selection filter
Hi,
Rather a question for the QCAD Troubleshooting and Problems or QCAD 'How Do I' Questions forum.
First diversify between a Block and a Block Reference.
A Block or Block definition is a collection of entities, a Block Reference is an entity on its own.
Typically we are drawing in Model_Space, in this perspective basically a Block that we are editing.
To filter on any Block Reference inserted in Model_Space use:
- Entity type: Block Reference.
With the rest empty.
For Block References in Model_Space that refer to a certain Block (definition) use:
- Entity type: Block Reference.
- Property: Referenced Block
- Some comparison mode.
- Some Block name or part of that.
The Selection Filter acts on what is currently displayed and can be selected.
The content of other Blocks is not available at this point.
A Block Reference is a single entity that displays a representation of the content of the referenced Block (definition).
To filter on the content you must first select the referenced Block and edit that (BE).
Other means are right clicking on the Block Reference and opt for BE or double clicking if that is set as preference.
You can then apply the same methods as above but now for the content of the Block (definition) in question.
As last I remark that the Selection Filter does not act on the current limited working set of Edit Block In-place (BB).
That is because you can add anything selected to the working set.
In a later state you can then update the content of the Block (definition) from this working set.
This will then be reflected in all Block References that are based on that.
